This is something that has been an issue for a long time, so it is not a recent thing. I thought it was a VAC issue, but I get the same with VB Cable. I've never been able to get the delay down below about 40ms no matter what I'm running. It doesn't matter if I have a heavy load with multiple programs running or just the console running on its own. It could be a buffer issue as changing to a different input (whether physical or virtual) and switching back immediately resets the delay, but it creeps up again over the course of an hour or so. It plays havoc trying to run the Faros beacon software as a 200ms delay throws it off completely so that it doesn't recognise the beacons., or if it does, it can't calculate if it is long path or short path. I don't know if it is console related or not as other software doesn't report audio delays. I have set the audio options in V3 to maximum buffer and increased the other settings to maximum but still get this issue. I've noticed that I keep getting long audio delays when using either VAC or VB Cable.By long I mean anything from 150-250ms.
